Well the Hughes family arrived home last night safe and sound around 8:45pm. We were all worn slam out, but very glad to be home. It's so nice to go away and have a change of pace, but it is SO wonderful to come back home. :)
On Friday we did manage to meet up with our friends from way back, the Misiano's. They are so sweet and bring back a lot of memories for both Chris and I. Chris has known them since he was 5 years old! Amazing! After our visit with them, we headed over to Red Robin for lunch and then back to the house for NAPS! :) While the girls napped I attacked the piles and piles of clothes and stuff that needed to all fit back into suitcases for our return journey. Once they woke up, we all headed to Olive Garden for a yummy last dinner in VA. Then it was home and to bed for all of us.
Yesterday morning we got up, got the girls dressed and finished the packing for our flights. We had three large suitcases and all three were very close (if not dead on) the weight limit for the airlines. I was just impressed that we fit the majority of our stuff in the suitcases with just the big presents left to be delivered by CiCi and PaPa sometime soon. We headed off to the airport and managed to get there in time to eat lunch with Cory at Applebee's before rushing off to the gate to get ready to board...yeah...we ended up with an almost hour delay due to equipment problems. It wasn't really that bad as Katherine just RAN up and down the corridor with Christopher close on her heels. While at the gate I heard my name being called...I couldn't imagine who it would be, but lo and behold it was my cousins Rick and Mary and Aunt Helen! Aunt Helen was on our flight back to Orlando and Rick and Mary were there to see her on the plane safely. We visited for quite a while and it was really nice to see them. When we landed in Orlando, we got to see another of my cousins, Rob, who was there to pick up Aunt Helen. Fun stuff!
The girls were AMAZING on the plane. Even after being delayed in the Richmond airport for about an hour, they were so well behaved on the plane. Caroline immediately conked out and Katherine was not far behind her...I'm thinking all the running wore her out! :) Chris and I were able to watch TV in peace while we flew and the girls woke up just as we were landing. Perfect timing!
This time we were smart and flipped the seat belt around backwards so getting the car seat out of the plane was SUPER easy this time around. :) My parents met us at the airport and Tim and Kristen were there as well since Mom and Dad were picking all of us up! We all headed to dinner to grab a quick bite before heading back to Melbourne.
Caroline screamed the entire car ride home from the airport (she's afraid of the dark), but Katherine entertained us with her singing and chatter.
We got home and were greeted by a VERY excited Colby. He had been holding down the fort for us while we were gone. He was extra excited to see us walk in the door. :) Such a sweet boy!
Well I guess that's the end of our Holiday travels. We had such a wonderful Christmas and New Year's but are very glad to be done with the traveling and chaos. Now maybe we can return to a normal schedule and get Caroline back into a better sleeping pattern! Let's hope! :)
Happy New Year!!
