Wow, these past few weeks have been crazy! Katherine's 3rd birthday was February 23, so we started celebrating on February 12th when CiCi and PaPa came to visit. They drove all the way down from Virginia to help us celebrate in between major snow storms. Sadly, it was pretty cold and dreary the entire time that they visited, so they didn't get much relief from the bitter winter that has plagued Virginia this year. On Saturday afternoon we had Katherine's 3rd birthday party complete with a Disney's princess birthday cake, decorations and party favors. I do believe her most favorite birthday gifts were her pink princess umbrella, her princess crown/skirts from CiCi and PaPa and her real cowgirl outfit complete with shirt, boots, jeans and belt from Gray Gray. I suppose you could say she's "well rounded!" :)
CiCi and PaPa headed back to Virginia on Monday and Katherine and Caroline and I spent the day running errands, cleaning and catching up on work from the shop. Later that week I caught Katherine coloring on Caroline's tummy with markers...Caroline thought it was hilarious, Mommy on the other hand, did not!
The weekend of the 20th Chris and I had a date night, thanks to my parents!! First we went to a West Point event and then we headed out to dinner...by ourselves! Wonderful!! We got to talk at dinner without being interrupted or having to deal with a meltdown!
The following Monday was a big day for Miss Katherine. We celebrated her 3rd birthday at school with all of her friends. I took in cupcakes (with pink icing of course!) and balloons for all of her classmates. She was tickled pink (pun intended) with all of the attention she got for her party!
Tuesday was her actually birthday, so we went to lunch with Mrs. Robin (who shares her birthday) and some other ladies from my Bible Study. Katherine had a ball playing with all of the other ladies and seeing the "fishies" in the aquarium.
Wednesday we left for Orlando around dinner time and checked into our house by 8pm. Katherine didn't take a nap that afternoon and Caroline didn't take much of one, so both girls were conked out very shortly after arriving.
Thursday Chris, Grammie, Gray Gray and I all had a business meeting in the morning while Katherine watched some videos and played with crayons and playdoh. Caroline napped most of the morning on my lap. That night we had dinner reservations at the Grand Floridian Hotel and dined with Cinderella, Prince Charming and the evil stepmother. Katherine and Caroline got all dolled up and looked super cute in their dresses. Katherine was hilarious. She was absolutely enamoured with the characters as they walked around the ballroom, but the second they arrived at our table, she was SO shy! She would become super interested in eating and basically ignore the characters. Then, when the left to go to another table, she was enamoured again. So funny!! They celebrated her birthday during the dinner and she even got her very own Mickey Mouse cupcake! Tons of fun and the food was wonderful!
This morning, Friday, we got up bright and early and headed out to the Magic Kingdom. Our plan was to hit the park early, leave around lunch and take naps and then head back for the fireworks and parade. Well, first things first, it was 34 degrees when we got to the park...Thiry...four...degrees?! In Florida??! Are you KIDDING ME!? Needless to say we were FREEZING for the first part of the morning. It later warmed up, but I don't think it got above the mid-50s all day long. That's COLD for a Florida girl. ;) The park was only open until 7pm, so instead of bailing for naps, we decided to do all the rides we wanted and then head home for early bedtimes. The girls were AWESOME! Caroline slept most of the morning and was such an angel all day long. Katherine L-O-V-E-D the park. Her favorite ride overall was the teacups. She also really liked the "It's A Small World," Dumbo, the race cars (She couldn't even see over the steering wheel, so driving was quite funny.). She wasn't such a fan of the Goofy roller coaster, but when she got off of it, she was laughing. We had to go back and ride the teacups three times. She had a blast on that one! She really wanted to meet Mickey Mouse, so we went to Mickey's house and waited in a really long line to see him and then Katherine wouldn't look up and smile in the pictures. We finally were all exhausted, so we started heading toward the exits. Approximately 5 minutes into our car ride home...Katherine and Caroline were conked out. They definitely had a magical day. :) As soon as we got to the house, Katherine said "I want to go back to see Mickey Mouse, but this time I smile." We can only hope. She has also been singing "It's A Small World" nonstop tonight. I think overall she had a blast!
Happy Birthday Miss Katherine!!!!!
Pictures will follow once I have gotten a little bit of sleep! :)

Oh what a weekend!
Well the past few days have been a bit crazy, but I think overall in a good way! :)
The end of last week was really busy with school, work and West Point stuff. Chris and I are the treasurer for the West Point society, so we were charged with the duty of converting the Society to QuickBooks and reconciling all of the data to make sure everything was up to snuff. Yeah...that was a ridiculous project that took me four almost full days of computer time to get entered and set up. Yuck! Thankfully, I do believe that we are DONE with that project and it will make our job going forward MUCH easier. :) Thank you technology!
Also this weekend Katherine decided that she was a "big girl" and no longer needed diapers. So on Saturday we put her in big girl underpants and quit diaper cold turkey. Now me being the super neat freak that I am was slightly freaking out that she would wet her pants or worse dirty her britches while out in public. Heaven forbid! But amazingly she did EXCELLENT all weekend long. We had to minor accidents (both at home thankfully) when she was so involved in playing that she forgot she had to go until it was too late. Not bad considering on Friday she was 100% in diapers. :) She work her big girl pants to school on Monday and did have an accident, but it was apparently right after she had gone on the potty, so not sure what happened there. Overall, she is doing GREAT!
Caroline is still working on her sitting abilities and is a LOVER of baby food. Well not all baby food, but fruits for sure! She refuses to eat veggies...I think she gets that from me sadly. :( I have tried to trick her, but she is too smart for me! The second she tastes a veggie she gets this look on her face like "Mom, how could you feed me that?!" Then she promptly clamps that jaw shut and I do believe that the jaws of life would have a hard time wrenching it open! She gets her stubborn streak honest...we are ALL stubborn. :) Oh well. At least she knows what she likes! She will eat fruits on the other hand until she pops! It is hilarious! Maybe once she can eat real food she'll eat some veggies?!?! I certainly hope so!
On top of my crazy weekend engulfed in the world of QuickBooks set up I also decided to be the world's greatest klutz and fall down the stairs on Saturday morning...with Katherine on my hip. Luckily I was able to shift myself so that I took the fall and Katherine just slid down on top of me. She did rub her back down the wall, but she only had a slight red spot on her back at the end of it all. I, on the other hand, managed to crack my second toe and badly bruise my right foot. Ridiculous, I know! As you probably know, there is nothing that can be done for a broken toe, so I am now hobbling around with a "post-op shoe" on...it's lovely. Katherine has been pretty helpful, but she has stepped on my toe twice today...OUCH! I am hoping that it will magically get better before we head to Disney for Katherine's 3rd Birthday. I cannot imagine walking that far with the current state of my toe! On a funny (but not really funny) note, Mom and I both now have broken toes on our right feet...like Mother like Daughter I suppose! Sheesh!
Christopher has been working a ton. His business is doing very well in this horrible economy, but because of the economy he is having to find jobs all over the State. So he has been traveling quite a bit. I know he misses the "girls" as we are called, but I guess somebody has to work around here! :) I am so blessed to be able to stay home with Katherine and Caroline. :)
Well I guess that about sums us up around here. :) We are having quite a icky wet spell this week. I'm ready for my 80 degree weather to return!! :)
New pictures will be coming...as soon as I take some. :(
