We're moving!!!!

Hello all! A LOT has happened since our last post. We have been busy little bees around here lately. We had our annual checkup with Dr. C in Orlando and were both given good reports! Chris has to go on a special diet for a while to get rid of some stomach issues, but nothing major and should be totally fixed within a few more weeks. He also found out that his back does not look nearly as bad as the chiropractor anticipated, so that was really good news! Now if we could just retrain his sleeping position, his back pain might disappear or lessen significantly! After that we had a training in Orlando for our computer software and Chris has been out of town twice for various business stuff.

This week Chris and Dad were in Tampa for a business meeting and came home on Tuesday night. They got home just in time for me to head out to the monthly Session meeting, so my parents, Chris and Katherine were able to enjoy dinner together while I hustled out the door to church. Later that same night Mom and Dad FINALLY sold their house!! Whoo hoo!!! After three years they were able to trade their house for one MUCH closer to work and church. We were super excited for them. On Thursday of this week we all went over to see the new house as it needs a lot of remodeling. We helped Mom and Dad take pictures and start a list of "to dos" so they can get planning before the actual closing occurs later next month. Well, while we were there, we noticed that directly across the street a house was for rent. We all jokingly said "Ha, wouldn't it be funny if we ended up across the street." Never actually thinking about it as a possibility. As we were leaving, Chris called to see what "rents go for in the neighborhood" thinking it would be WAY out of our price range. No one answered, so we didn't think anything about it and went on to dinner. While at dinner, the agency called Chris back and found out that the house was listed at exactly what we had set as a "target" rent amount for us. The lady was in Orlando, so she gave us the code to go look inside the house. So we woofed down our dinner and headed back to the rental house, all the time thinking "this place has got to be a dog." Nope! It was just recently remodeled and some of the finishing stuff (like grout) hasn't been totally finished, but other than that it's SUPER nice and HUGE! One problem...they don't want big dogs. So we call the lady back to get more information, she says that the rent includes lawn and pool care monthly (a huge expense in FL) and that they just put the sign in the yard hours before we called. Talk about coincidence! So we decided on the spot to rent the house. We put in our application (80 pound dog and all) and submitted it for approval. By 4pm Friday afternoon we were officially renters of the house directly across the street from my parents! And as an added bonus, it's bank owned, so there's a possibility that we could buy it from them down the road...after we sell our house of course. ;) The other added bonus is that the 4th bedroom is downstairs and off to itself, so my parents will be able to live there (in their own bed!) while they renovate their new house! Can we say "divine intervention?!" So now we have to sell or rent our home in Viera, but as it happens have actually started getting calls on it over the weekend, so we're keeping our fingers crossed!

Our new home will be 2 miles from Katherine's preschool and just under 6 miles from the shop. We were 18 miles from the shop and 20 some from preschool. WHOA! We are SUPER thrilled and Katherine's room is already painted in pink and white stripes which will go PERFECTLY with her new "big girl" room bedding. I do believe that God made this house just for us!

There is a strange front door with a weird peep hole thingy, but I think it will cause more entertainment than anything (see the pictures below). Oh...and we have some painting to do...burgundy and gold diamonds are NOT our cup of tea. ;o)

So the crazy Hughes clan is moving again!!

Here are some pictures from our walk through of the house...Katherine LOVES it. I am missing pictures of the downstairs bedroom, bathroom and laundry room and what will be baby number 2's room, but this will give you an idea at least!

Front of the house. Not the prettiest house ever, but definitely not a dog either!

Kitchen...don't mind me with my mouth open...we were in shock.

Family Room w/ fireplace...not sure we'll need that much, but oh well!

Living Room and Dining Room off to left (needs some new paint!)

Katherine's New Room

Upstairs Bathroom for Katherine and baby number 2!

First week of March

So the idea of having two girls is slowly sinking in with Chris and I. Before the ultrasound the thought of two kids wasn't really sinking in for me, but now that I know it's a girl, it makes it more real! Now if could only figure out names that we like...ugh! I swear the naming thing is the hardest part of having kids! And of course since I am a planner I like to figure all of that out...right NOW...too bad it doesn't work that way! :)
Since last Thursday we have been SUPER busy! Friday was a cleaning the house day, then Saturday we had Katherine's 2nd birthday party with my parents and grandparents and lots of presents from Virginia! Katherine was quite the little entertainer during her party. We had a lot of fun and Katherine definitely now likes to open presents...a definite difference between this year and last! She also likes icing on the cake this year...last year she refused to eat the icing and made a horrible face whenever she got some. It was funny.
Sunday I was exhausted so Chris let me sleep in while he and Katherine tore into her new presents and played all morning. After that we assembled the new swing set in the back yard...which Katherine LOVES. Every night before bed she has to look outside and make sure that it's still there. haha.
Monday was a catch up day for work at the shop and running errands all over the place.
Tuesday we had Lab School and then Katherine's first appointment with our new pediatrician (Dr. H). We LOVE the new pediatrician and Katherine even gave him high 5 before we left...major points in the mom's book! We have to go back for our official "2 year" appointment in a few weeks, but from the prelim appointment, Katherine is healthy as a horse and still a bit on the lean side...but he said that's just her, so not to worry! One benefit for her is that she gets to stay on whole milk instead of switching to skim like the old folks! Ha! I think Daddy is more excited about this as he likes to sneak in glasses of whole milk every once in a while. :)
Wednesday was Bible study day and work at the shop.
Today (Thursday) we had our 21 week check up on baby girl #2 and everything is just peachy. Katherine got to hear her baby sister's heartbeat and she was mesmerized by the sound...though I doubt that she knew what the heck it was. :) All of our tests came back negative (a good thing!) and all of the ultrasound measurements were perfect. Now we just wait until July to meet her! :)
Here are some pictures from Katherine's party this weekend. I guess I'll have to get Chris to take some "belly" pictures of me this weekend to post as I now definitely have a baby belly. :)
Have a great weekend!!

Playing with all of my balloons.

Opening lots of presents.
Cake and icing all over my face!
My first swing on the new swing set...it was still in progress at this point.
I love the slide!
