Merry Christmas!!!

Merry Christmas from the Hughes!

The girls ready for church on Christmas Eve

The best picture we could get of all three of them.  Poor Andrew is surrounded by hair!  :)

Caroline loves to kiss her little brother (or little buddy as she calls him).

Cookies (gluten free of course!) and milk for Santa! Also notice that Caroline is COVERED in chocolate thanks to a conveniently stashed peppermint patty she brought out on our way home from dinner...she's a sneaky one!

I haven't had a chance to update about our Christmas yet, but let's just say the girls and Andrew were definitely on the Good List this year.  ;)  I'll update more after CiCi and PaPa's visit, which should start any minute!!!  YIPPEE!!!

Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas!
Love,
The Hughes Family

3 Months Old!! And other December happenings!

Howdy!  Wow...did I really write my last post in November...before Thanksgiving?!  Yikes!  How did a month go by so quickly?!  Oh yeah...we've been sick...for 5 straight weeks!  DOH!  Talk about craziness!  Hopefully that is behind us now and we can move full steam ahead into Christmas!!!  (Did I mention that it is only 5 days away?!  And...I'm NOT ready?!  Double yikes!)

Today marks Mr. Andrew's 3 month birthday!!!  Can you believe that our little guy is already 3 months old?!  I can't.  Really, I feel like he was just born yesterday...and at the same time I feel like he has always been a part of our family.  Strange how that happens.  ;)  He is SUCH a sweet little guy.  He really only cries when he's hungry, or has a dirty diaper, or occasionally from a sore tummy.  Once we figured out the gluten thing he has become the calmest little guy and will happily lay on the floor in the same room with us cooing and chewing on his fists.  He likes to look around and watch what's going on, but he doesn't mind just chillin by himself and being a spectator.  ;)  Thank goodness!  Now...if you leave him in the swing and don't stay in the room with him...there may be a few words (or screams) from Mr. Andrew as he likes to be in the middle of things, but as long as he can see you he's one happy camper.  Night time tends to be his fussy time, but really it's not bad at all.  His favorite things right now are getting his diaper changed (He does NOT like to be dirty...I can't blame him!), chewing furiously on his little fists (I sure hope this does not mean we are soon to be teething!), eating, "talking" to me while I change his clothes, eating, following his sisters around the room with his eyes, smiling and giggling, eating, being outside, eating, taking a bath...and did I mention eating?!  Ha!  The boy LOVES to eat.  :)  I think he gets that from his Momma.  I do love my meal times!  All of that eating has led to one quickly growing little (or should I say big) guy!  This morning I realized that all of his 3 month outfits are too short in the legs and arms...and a bit snug in the body as well.  So, after I folded the laundry, I packed up all of his 3 month outfits and pulled out his 6 month stuff...ironic that I am packing up his 3 month clothes on his 3 month birthday!  I guess milk does a body good!  ;)  His hair is definitely turning blonde and I swear he has the bluest eyes!  I didn't think I would be amazed at blue eyes after Katherine and Caroline since both of theirs are a beautiful shade of blue, but man sometimes he looks at me and I think "those are some amazing blue eyes!"  He will definitely be a hit with all the ladies between his super long eyelashes and deep blue eyes.  All I can say is "hands off ladies...I get at least the next 16 or so years!  Then ya'll can have a shot at him."  :)
I'm 3 months old today!!!  I'm getting so big!

My 3 Month Stats:
Weight: 13lbs. 10 oz.
Length: 25 1/8"
Head Circumference: 16 1/4"

Just for kicks and giggles I looked up Katherine and Caroline's stats at 4 months...because I get a Mommy fail and didn't record their 3 month stats.  :(

Katherine at 4 months old (a month older than Andrew now):
Weight:  13 lbs. 14 oz.
Length:  24 3/4"
Head Circumference:  16"

Caroline at 4 months old (a month older than Andrew now):
Weight:  13 lbs. 13.4 oz.
Length:  25 1/4"
Head Circumference: 16 1/4"

So it looks like Mr. Andrew is right on track with Miss Caroline...at 4 months old...or he's 1 month ahead of his big sisters!  Yikes!  The girls better look out, little brother is gonna catch up super quick!  ;)

Katherine and Caroline are busy as ever.  We have been on break from homeschool since the Wednesday before Thanksgiving.  Thank goodness since that is when "the sicks" invaded the Hughes household!  UGH!  Caroline started first with a croupy type cough and it morphed into a full blown sinus infection and wet nasty sounding cough.  She is thankfully FINALLY on the mend...after 5 weeks.  Katherine and I were the next to come down with the crud the weekend of Thanksgiving and then Chris succumbed the week after Thanksgiving.  Blessedly Andrew has managed to escape unscathed, so I am hoping he avoids it completely!  This stuff was NASTY!  We are all still coughing a little bit, but nothing compared to what we were doing.  Yuck!

Even though we have all been sick the girls have managed to stay pretty active.  We have been playing outside a lot since the weather has been GORGEOUS!  Most days are upper 70s to low 80s with a cool breeze.  PER-FECT weather to play outside.  Luckily Katherine has kept her feet mostly on the ground so we have avoided any other broken limbs.  ;)  Caroline's favorite thing is picking flowers and RUNNING.  It's so funny.  We can't get her to ride a bike for anything.  She just wants to run...and run....and run!  I'm convinced she's going to be a marathon runner one of these days.

For Christmas this year both girls are asking for the same thing a scooter (as if Katherine needs anything else mobile from which she can fall...) and a "hoopie hoop."  What is a hoopie hoop you may ask?!  That is a hula hoop in Caroline terms.  :)  So we'll have to see if they made the good list or not this year.  If so it looks like Santa might be bringing them a scooter and hoopie hoop!

Uncle Cory blessed us with a week long visit this week and we have had SO much fun visiting with him.  The girls adore their Uncle Cory.  Katherine even conned him into taking her out in the River on the kayak!  We are all going to miss him when he has to go back to VA!  :(  Caroline is convinced that he's staying forever.  ;)

Well I guess that's about all I can update for now!  Hopefully I will get my act in gear and update after Christmas to let you know if Katherine and Caroline made the good list or not!  ;)  Next up is a visit from CiCi and PaPa right after Christmas!!  Yippee!!  We can't wait!

Doin what I do best.  Chewin on my hands.

The girls take on Daddy and Cory in a thrilling game of Memory.  ;)

Caroline calling someone out for not following the rules!

Sweet Caroline

Katherine got to paddle!

"Mom look at me!  I'm a surfer girl!"

"No, I won't smile for you."

This is my serious face. (Don't I look like Daddy!?)

Goin for the hands again!

It's almost the Holidays?! Yikes!

Well I have not been the greatest at updating on the happenings of the whole Hughes family as of late, so here is an attempt...  :)

Katherine:

Well Miss Katherine has had quite a wild few weeks with her broken arm and all.  She is quite annoyed at her cast, but has really been quite the trooper since she cannot use her left hand to do much of anything since her arm is permanently in a bent 90 degree angle position.  I had forgotten about this problem and fixed her favorite corn on the cob for dinner one night...silly Mommy!  Katherine can't pick the cob up with both hands to eat it!  Poor thing.  But she improvised and ended up leaving the cob on the table (I know GROSS!) and eating it like a dog would eat out of his bowl.  Chris and I just laughed.  She didn't complain, so we didn't either.  :)  I wish I had captured a picture of her eating it, but it wasn't very ladylike, so maybe on second thought, I'm glad I didn't!  She is growing like a weed and is busting out of almost all of her clothes!  MOM!  You need to go shopping!  haha.  She is wearing between a size 6 and 7 in clothes now which means we can start shopping in some of the "tween" areas of stores...REALLY?!  She's still a baby, I am NOT ready to start thinking about teenage years...heaven help us!  We have been struggling a bit with some honesty issues and her sneaking downstairs after we put her to bed for snacks, such as cookies, treats, gummy snacks, M&Ms, etc.  Definitely not  healthy stuff!  Chris got the bright idea to set up a GoPro camera in the kitchen since she would not fess up the midnight snacks, but we KNEW she was doing it.  Sure enough, the first night he set it up within 10 minutes or so of putting her to bed, she was sneaking down into the kitchen for a cookie.  She didn't notice the camera so she headed back upstairs.  About 2 minutes later...she's BACK!  This time she noticed the camera and the look on her face was pitiful.  She was like "OH NO!  I'M BUSTED!"  We have since had quite a few chats about honesty and how important it is, so hopefully this will no longer be an issue.  :)  We have also apparently not slowed down a bit from the broken arm.  She is still wild and runs at full tilt pretty much all the time.  Which is good that she's not afraid after breaking her arm, but not so good when you are trying to get a bone to heal!  Last Friday we went back to Dr. H's office for an x-ray and new cast (so we thought).  Dr. H was not in the office as he had a wedding at his house over the weekend, so we met with his wonderful PA Ms. Meg.  She was great and they took X-rays of Katherine's arm and noticed that it is no longer straight (remember the no slowing down from above?!).  It apparently got jarred since setting it and it's a bit crooked.  Luckily the view that was most crucial of the arm showed that the side view is still straight, so they don't think they will need to reset it.  Thank goodness!  But, that meant we did NOT get a new cast...bummer.  We will go back to see Dr. H next Wednesday the 14th and will hopefully get a waterproof cast then.  We shall see!!  Here are some pictures of Miss Katherine getting caught by the GoPro camera, with her baby brother and of her X-rays from last week.
Katherine and Andrew.  They are equally smitten with each other.  :)

The cookie monster grabs a cookie.

BUSTED!

Katherine's X Ray.  Notice the picture on the right...the ulna (or bone on the left) is crooked.  :(

Caroline:

Miss Caroline is just as sweet as can be.  :)  We have thankfully moved on from the constant potty accidents which seemed to crop up right after Mr. Andrew's birth.  I think that was just a slight regression due to a major change in the family, but we are back to normal, thankfully!!  She absolutely adores her baby brother and constantly calls him "my buddy."  In fact, she informed me the other night that his name is "my buddy" and his nickname is Andrew.  Gotta love it!  She's very protective of him and wants to give him kisses and hold him constantly.  I have a feeling Andrew is going to have both girls wrapped tightly around his little finger.  ;)  Caroline is growing like a weed and is now wearing size 4 clothes!  Yikes!  Where did my little baby go?!  She still prefers dresses and still LOVES hippos.  I have a feeling she is going to wonder one day why she loves hippos so much!  We think it's pretty funny.  She is very opinionated about most things these days and still talks very LOUDLY!  We are constantly saying "Caroline, use your inside voice!"  I think that's all part of being a middle child, but sometimes I just want to scream because she is SO loud.  She absolutely LOVES to take walks and do pretty much anything and everything outside.  She is also completely in love with her Daddy.  She always wants to do something with him, which I think is quite sweet.  :)  She loves minestrone soup, chicken fingers and cheese to eat.  She also has quite the sweet tooth, but she hasn't been sneaking downstairs in the middle of the night for snacks.  ;)  We have a hard time getting her to eat her dinner sometimes, so she rarely ends up getting dessert.  We joke that Caroline is going to be the skinniest of us all because she never gets to eat dessert!

Caroline wearing a shirt she made in preschool...with a hippo on it!  :)

Caroline and Andrew.  Such sweethearts.

We are finally able to fit three across thanks to a seat belt extender.  When I told the girl to smile for a picture, this is what Caroline did.  Is she shooting me with her foot or doing a kung fu kick?!

Andrew:

Andrew is now 7 weeks old and is growing like a WEED!  He still eats about every 2-3 hours during the day and occasionally will cluster feed for an hour or two (meaning he eats CONSTANTLY for that period), but at night he has been sleeping 8 hours straight for the past 3 days!!!  YIPPEE!!!!  The first night he did that I wanted to jump for joy!  He is so sweet and still sleeps most of the day, but he is starting to have "wakeful" periods where he will just stare at the girls and I.  Around dinnertime he gets pretty fussy, but I think it's mostly from being tired and he's just ready for bed.  I feel a bit bad for Christopher because he really only sees him when he's super fussy, but really he's not a fussy baby.  We have had a few tummy issues which did lend themselves to some fussing, but we think we have figured out that he is gluten intolerant, just like Daddy.  I have eliminated gluten from my diet and that has helped tremendously!  He had this horrible rash on his face, neck, eyelids, ears, shoulders and beginning to go down his chest, but now that we have been gluten free for a week or more the rash is almost completely gone and his tummy issues have completely disappeared!  Not so fun for mom as I am not used to eating Gluten Free all the time and I don't automatically remember that I can't eat certain things.  I'm having to retrain myself.  It's been a bit of a challenge, but Christopher just says "now you know what I feel like."  :)  He does still have some dry skin, but I think that's related to the cooler weather we have had lately.  I hope so anyway.  :)  He is close to 11 pounds now if not more than 11 pounds.  I just packed away his newborn and 0-3 month outfits.  I have to admit I did shed a tear because my baby is growing way to fast!  He is fully into 3-6 month outfits and I don't think he's going to be wearing these for long!  Some he already fills out pretty well.  Yikes!  Our kiddos are growing up way too fast.  :(  Here are some pictures of the little guy.  :)

My sweet little guy.  Here he was still fighting the mad rash on his face and neck.  :(

Sitting up in the Bumbo like a big boy!   Right before I snapped the picture he was sitting up nice and straight.  Oh well!

Are YOU talking to ME?

Mommy caught a smile!!

Such a sweet guy!

Homeschool:

Well it is hard to believe but we are in week 10 of 12 for Classical Conversations (CC) before we take a long break for the Holidays.  I cannot believe that we are halfway through the full year's curriculum for CC! We have learned SOOO much.  I think Mommy has learned more in 10 weeks of CC than I learned in all of my many years of school!  Insanity!  Katherine is doing SO well with the memory work and Caroline is picking up a lot of it as well.  Katherine is also well on her way to being a reader!  She can read level one readers pretty well with a little help sounding things out, but for the most part she can do it herself.  She has learned 40 phonograms (of 72) and a bunch of spelling rules to help her sound things out and learn how to spell.  She can accurately spell a ton of words (I've lost track of how many exactly) and her handwriting is improving daily.  Math is still her favorite subject BY FAR.  She's learned to read the clock (analog and digital), she counting money, making patterns, sorting, identifying objects by shape, size, color, etc.  She amazes me with how quickly we blast through the lessons.  We are almost through with lessons from the March lesson plans and it's only November...and honestly we haven't been doing too much math since Andrew was born just because it's been a little wild around here.  So that will tell just how far ahead she is in math.  Caroline is working diligently on her letters, shapes, colors, comparisons (bigger, smaller, longer, shorter, etc), counting and numbers.  Today I was working with Katherine on a math lesson and Caroline came over and said "I want to do that."  Sure enough she sat down and did the whole lesson by herself!  She is so smart and I have a feeling she will be way ahead once we start in on the Kindergarten curriculum for her.  Hard to say what Andrew will be like since he will have homeschool to listen in on for years before he's ready to actually join in!  :)  Here are some pictures of us doing some math.  Language Arts and Memory Work for CC don't lend themselves very well to pictures, but math does!  So here ya go!

Doing math lessons on half full, measuring, following a recipe, and mixing colors.

Same day as above.

Katherine measuring her pencil and deciding if the ruler is longer or shorter than the pencil.  The other objects in front of her were in the "longer than" pile.

Another view of her in action.

Caroline doing the same lesson!  Measuring the glue stick.

The glue stick is shorter than the pencil!  :)

I also made my first ever piece of clothing from scratch.  I made a romper for Mr. Andrew.  Not too bad for a first attempt!  I still need to hem the bottom and put the snaps on, but other than that's it's finished!  :)  I'll have to post a picture with him in it!

Well that about sums up the Hughes for a while!  I cannot believe we have two weeks until Thanksgiving!!  How did that happen?!  I feel like I missed a few weeks...or months!  Hopefully I will post again next week with pictures of a new waterproof cast for Miss Katherine!!  :)

1 Month Check Up

Andrew had his one month check up this morning with our favorite Dr. W!  The good news is Mr. Andrew was given a raving review and is one healthy little dude.  Or should I say, not so little dude!  He has grown like a weed in the three weeks since we last saw Dr. W!  He gained over 2 1/2 pounds and grew 1 1/2" in three weeks!  Craziness!  Dr. W said that he is exceeding expectations for weight and height gain and that he's doing superb.  Love it!  Now if only we could get into a good sleep routine at night. He will sleep 2 or 3 nights in a row for 6 hours, but then the next night he will wake up every three hours.  Last night was one of those every 3 hours kind of night...yawn!  Really though, I can't complain.  He's such a good and sweet baby.  He really only cries when he's hungry or has a sore tummy.  Other than that he's pretty content!  Thank goodness!  :)

So Andrew's stats as of today:
Weight: 9 lbs 10 oz. (50%)
Height: 23 1/4" long (97%)
Head Circumference: 37 cm (25%)

On a funny note I looked up his weight for length percentage...he isn't even on the chart!  He's so skinny for his length!  Guess he's going to take after Gray Gray...we yet again have another long and lean baby!

As compared to his sisters at their one month well visits:
Caroline (at 6 weeks)
9 lbs. 1 oz.
22 3/8" long

Katherine
9lbs. 6oz.
21 3/4" long

The girls went with me to the doctor's appointment and they were so funny.  Caroline was per her usual self and just played with the toys all in her own little world while Katherine wanted to watch everything that was going on and talked to Andrew the entire time.  It was so sweet.  She loves to care for other people and loves everything to doctor does...maybe we will have a doctor on our hands in the future.  ;)  Of course Dr. W was quite interested in Katherine's broken arm.  She sure does get a lot of attention with a bright blue cast!  ;)

Adios until next time!  :)

Katherine and "the arm"

Just home from the hospital and all splinted up.

How we spent the majority of the night...*yawn*

Waiting at the surgery center.

All fixed up with a nice blue cast!! (We were shocked she didn't pick PINK!)

Sibling Pics October 2012

Andrew the day before he turned 4 weeks old!

Andrew at 4 weeks old (LOVE his expression here because he is looking at his sisters. I think he's saying "Y'all are CRAZY!"  I agree!)

Big sister love.

Such sweet kiddos!

The big sisters!

I love the girls in this one, but Andrew looks like he's had about all he can take.  ;)

Days of our Lives

So sometimes I begin to feel like we live in a semi-soap opera...without the people coming back to life, murders, cheating and general sleaziness, etc.  This week was "one of those weeks."  We started off the week with a wonderful day at CC (homeschool group) on Monday.  We managed to finish a few errands and then head home for much needed naps all around.  Tuesday we had a little bit of a wild day because we had to go get a bunch of hand-me-down clothes for Mr. Andrew from a friend of ours.  We also were privileged to have Miss Ana come and visit for the day since her poor brother was in surgery to fix...get this...his TWO broken arms after a bike accident.  Poor guy!  I remember thinking as I spoke with Nora, his mom, that "yup, I betcha we'll be experiencing a broken arm or two with Miss Katherine since she seems to have to learn things the HARD way instead of just learning from what we tell her."  Yeah...just hold that thought for a minute.  Tuesday night we also had couples group and by the time I got home I was so worn out that I passed out immediately...only Mr. Andrew had other ideas.  So after partying all night with Andrew, we laid low on Wednesday.  We did some homeschool work, washed some clothes and generally just vegged.  Then comes Thursday.  Since I had revived myself a bit from the vegging day on Wednesday, I woke up Thursday ready to rock and roll.  I got the girls up and dressed in their "Big Sis" shirts, hair done, breakfast fed and then got Mr. Andrew up and dressed.  I was determined to take sibling pictures of the little guy before he loses his "newborn" look...which is fast departing!  He's growing like a weed!  Anyway, as I am getting ready to go outside to take pictures, Caroline comes up to me and says "Look Momma, I chewed my shirt."  WHAT?! Sure enough, Caroline had been chewing on the collar of her shirt while I was feeding Andrew.  SO now her shirt collar is ALLLLL stretched out and has a ginormous (pretty sure that's not a word) wet spot on the front of the shirt.  Wonderful...  So I strip her shirt off, rinse it out with water and chuck in the dryer just praying it will dry fast enough before Mr. A falls asleep or gets into a fussy mode.  I think this should have been a warning as to how the day would go...

Anyway, the shirt dried fairly quickly and we all went outside for a photo shoot.  I managed to get quite a few sweet shots of all three kiddos together and just two of them together in various forms, but I did not get a SINGLE picture that was decent of Mr. Andrew by himself.  Bummer.  In every single one he either looked like he was about to spit up or was just generally ticked to be subjected to the sunlight and camera lens.  Oh well...guess we will try again soon.  :)  We then did homeschool, which was ridiculously challenging for some reason.  Katherine didn't want to do anything, questioned everything and Caroline kept whining and fussing about EVERYTHING.  Finally around 1pm I just gave up on school for the day.  We had accomplished enough for one day, so it wasn't a total waste, but it definitely wasn't what I had planned!  I put the kiddos down for a nap around 2:30...yeah...NONE of the kids would go to sleep!  Caroline is always easy to get down and Andrew typically sleeps most of the day, so this was definitely unusual for those two...not so much for Katherine.  Finally everyone went to sleep around 3:45 and I collapsed on the couch for about 10 minutes.  Then I was up and starting dinner.  Chris came home early which was a wonderful surprise!!  We ate an early dinner and then decided it was SOOO nice out that we just HAD to take a walk!  Remember the thought I told you to hold a minute ago about the broken arm...yeah, here it comes!  So we are all in the garage, Caroline is helping Chris pump up the tires on the jogging stroller, Katherine is putting her bike helmet on (I have no idea why) and I am putting Andrew in his car seat and stroller.  Katherine takes off out into the driveway and Chris tells her to come back and stay right with us...as if she would listen to us...  So she's just running around in the driveway right beside Chris's truck and then she takes off to the "forest" as she calls it on the other side of the driveway toward our neighbor's house.  Chris calls her back and she does reluctantly come, but decides to take a detour through the grass instead of just straight to us.  Well the detour goes right by the one tree in our close front yard which also happens to be her FAVORITE tree to climb.  Of course the kid has been warned at least 50 times NOT to climb anything without Chris or I there to spot her...but do you think that stops her?!  NOPE!  So she climbs up in the tree...while Chris is telling her to get down.  She starts coming down and then gets scared about 2 feet off the ground.  Literally 2 feet, maybe even less.  So she yells "Daddy" and then JUMPS off the tree.  Chris was about 20 feet from her, but obviously couldn't get there in time because she just jumped.  She lands on her arm and is immediately up saying "OW, OW, OW, my arm hurts really bad."  Chris and I look at it and it's OBVIOUSLY broken from far away.  So in we go to pack it with ice and make up a sling.  Chris takes her to the ER where they confirm that it is in fact broken...in two places.  She broke both bones in her forearm.  So they send her home in a splint with instructions to see a Orthopedic Surgeon in the morning to get it set.  Luckily one of our dear friends is also an orthopedic surgeon.  So we talked to him while in the ER, he looked at her X-rays from home and told us, he would see her at 9 in his office the next morning.  He also said "nothing to eat or drink after midnight."  He knew he would have to knock her out to set her arm, otherwise it would be terribly traumatic for a 5 year old!  So we put the sweet kid to bed, who was still pretty nonchalant about the whole experience...and she slept...for a little less than an hour.  Then she was up for the rest of the night in pretty bad pain...and dying of thirst...but she couldn't have anything.  Try explaining that to a 5 year old who is pretty much not listening to anything you say to her in the middle of the night...fun times!!  Finally she and Chris headed off to see Dr. John around 8:45am.  They called at 10:30 and said that they were headed over to the surgery center and it was scheduled for 12 noon.  So I quickly got Caroline squared away with GrayGray and then Andrew and I headed for the surgery center.  We got there around 11:30 and Katherine was quite the conversation piece in the center.  EVERYONE came to see her and talk to her.  They also all asked how she hurt her arm and by the end she was so sick of telling the story that she would say "do I HAVE to tell you?  It's getting annoying!"  The nurses could not get over how cute she was...meanwhile Mom and Dad could see her head swelling with all the compliments.  ;)  Finally around 1 they took her back...after one very defiant moment when she spit the "happy juice" back out at the nurse...that's Katherine!  The anesthesiologist said that she was the calmest child he has ever put to sleep...and she woke up just as calm!  No crying or anything, which is apparently VERY rare with children.  We were so proud of her!  The actual setting and casting only took a few minutes, so within an hour we were already back in recovery with her wide awake and demanding food.  Yup, I'd say she's back to normal!  Even groggy she was giving out orders.  ;)  We left very shortly after she woke up and were home around 3pm.  She inhaled some chips and salsa and goldfish when we got home and then we ALL took a much needed nap.  After our nap she wanted to go to Friendly's for dinner.  So we piled into the car and headed to Friendly's.  She got chicken fingers and the much anticipated "create your own" sundae with gummy bears, oreos and M&Ms.  She was one happy chick!  I was just happy the anesthesia didn't make her sick, because it makes me ridiculously sick.  She was completely fine!

We all slept like babies last night and Mr. Andrew even got in on the fun and slept for a whopping 6 hours straight!  Way to go little man!  :)  Mommy greatly appreciated it.  :)

So there's our wild and crazy week!  Let's hope for a more sedate week this week.  No broken bones, sleepless nights or wild and crazy attitudes.  ;)

I'll post pics of the kiddos shortly.

2 weeks old!

Can you believe that Andrew is two weeks old today?!  I sure can't!  It feels like he has been here forever, but at the same time, it's hard to believe he's already two weeks old!  Time is flying!  The girls are still absolutely smitten with "baby brother".  He is a very good baby still and really only cries when he's hungry...I keep waiting for the screaming that characterized his big sister Katherine's infancy, but so far, so good!  If only he would sleep like Caroline did!  He sleeps like a CHAMP during the day and can sleep through ANYTHING.  I'm talking screaming sisters, loud crashes, anything.  It amazes me.  But night is a completely different story!  He slept the night before last for 6 hours straight...I thought I had died and gone to heaven.  I was crossing my fingers that he would repeat this last night...but no.  He was up every 2 hours and then had his longest stretch from 5am to 9am...which of course I did not get to enjoy in my bed because big sister Caroline was wide eyed and bushy tailed at 6am sharp!  Oh if my kids would sleep at the same time we'd be in hog heaven!  :)

Andrew is still gaining weight like a champ and eating pretty much every two hours around the clock.  He doesn't seem to be too sensitive to anything I eat which is a totally blessing.  I remember not being able to eat salads with Caroline and I think pretty much everything upset Katherine's stomach.  So far, so good with Mr. Andrew!  He is almost too big for the newborn diapers, so we are moving on and up into Size 1 diapers.  His newborn outfits still fit him pretty well, but some of the 0-3 month outfits are finally beginning to be "wearable".  They still swallow him a bit, but not nearly as bad as last week!  Amazing how much he can change in just a short time.  :)  He still looks a lot like Katherine did as an infant, but I am starting to see his "own" look taking shape.  Chris and I were discussing last night how he has his own "smell" and it is even rather masculine.  Funny how the girls always smelled kinda sweet and girly and yet he smells like boy.  Makes me think that God is just that cool to think of the tiniest details like how one smells!  I don't think I will ever fully wrapped my head around HOW detailed our God is!  So cool!  And for those of you concerned that he might end up with brown hair...it's looking highly unlikely.  Every day his hair get lighter and lighter and his eyebrows and eyelashes are SO blonde, I have a feeling he will have hair similar to Caroline's before it's all said and done with.  *Sigh* Guess I will be the lone brunette in the Hughes household.  Talk about sticking out like a sore thumb!  HA!

Well here are some pictures I snapped this morning as Katherine practiced her Timeline for home school.  We are all about multi-tasking these days.  :)  Enjoy!

Caroline holding Andrew.  She LOVES her baby brother.

"Mommy I kiss Andrew's hair."

"Mommy you need to get some sleep!  You look scary!"

Just chillin with my sis Caroline.

"Don't make fun of me, or I'll stick my tongue out at you!"
