We definitely look like Daddy!

So I thought there was no way for anyone to look more like Christopher as an infant than Katherine...I was WRONG! Look at Miss Caroline! Here is a picture of Katherine at 9 weeks and Caroline at 10 weeks...boy do my girls look like their Daddy! :)

September Craziness

It has been a few weeks since I last wrote...and it has been NUTS. I swear everyday is nuts around here. :) My poor parents are still working on their house and it seems like everyday is a new problem or delay. They are stuck living in our guest room for a little while longer and I know they are ready for their own space! It is a little hectic with four adults, two kids under 3 and three dogs all living under the same roof. We love the family time, but I am sure that my parents are ready for some QUIET. hahaha. A house with two munchkins is anything but quiet!

Katherine is growing like a weed and surprises me every single day with new vocabulary and her memory is astounding. She constantly shocks me with remembering someone or some place everywhere we go. How is a 2 year old that observant?! I think she gets it from her Daddy...because Mommy is clearly not that tuned into her environment. She absolutely LOVES school and adores her teachers Ms. Jessica and Ms. Maze. We talk about them frequently at home and she is so excited on school mornings to get to school and give them a hug. It is very sweet. We have had a few challenges the past few weeks with Miss Katherine's behaviour, but we are working on it and hopefully heading in the right direction. She got in trouble a few times in school for not staying in line when going to the playground and specifically running away from her teachers when asked to go in the room after playtime. AAGGHH! I was completely embarrassed when her teachers told me this, but I totally believed it. She does the same thing with Chris and I. So we have been working on walking and holding our hand everywhere we go. Today when I went to pick her up her teachers said that she did GREAT today! She walked in line and even sat still while in chapel...AMAZING! So we went out to lunch with Daddy as a special treat for such good behaviour! She also got into trouble in the nursery at church one night as she threw a chair down and then would not pick it up when asked. I am hoping that she didn't throw the chair at anyone, but was too scared to actually ask the nursery attendants the question. Some things are better left unknown! :) She also has been having 3-4 hour meltdowns everyday before nap time. Yesterday she got so mad that I was making her take a nap that she took all of her clothes off, sat down in the floor and peed on the carpet. She then looked up at me and said "Mommy clean it up." WHAT?! Needless to say I was not in the best frame of mind. So I quietly cleaned up the mess, put her back to bed and then went into my room and screamed into my pillow for about 20 seconds...amazing how that relieves some stress! :) I then picked up my Bible and read for a while until I was at peace again. Then I went in to talk to her about her behaviour and to tell her she could come downstairs, but she was fast asleep. So today we are attempting no nap...I hope I don't regret this! It is virtually impossible to get her to sleep at night until 9 or 10pm. And she wakes up like clockwork everyday between 6 and 6:30am...definitely NOT enough sleep for a 2 1/2 year old! So my hope is that if I can get her to bed earlier then maybe we can get her to sleep for 12 hours at night and then she doesn't need a nap during the day...and then we can avoid the 3-4 hour meltdowns! Everybody wins right?! I'm praying so! I'll let you know how that turns out. :)

Caroline is growing like a weed as well and was deemed healthy as a horse at her 2 month check up on Monday. She is now 11 pounds 4.8 oz., 24" long and her head is 15 1/4" in circumference. So basically she is in the 90th percentile for length and 50th percentile for weight. We have another long and lean girly! She is such a sweet little girl, but has apparently developed a keen sense of where Mom is. I tried to sneak out of the house the other day to see Mom and Dad's new cabinets across the street while she was conked out in the swing. Mom said that the second I walked out of the door she woke up screaming. The second I came back in and got in her line of site, she was fine again. Oy vey! I didn't think the clingy stage started for a while?! She has also started giving me a fit at night and won't stay asleep when I put her down in the crib. Last night it took 2 1/2 hours to finally get her to stay asleep. I swear her little eyes are spring loaded and the second her head hits a mattress they just pop back open. Other than bedtime though, she is SUCH a good little baby. Most of the day she just babbles to me and smiles. She usually falls asleep on her own for naps and is generally one happy little girl. Now if we could just transfer that to bedtime we'd be all set! :) Up until the past week she has been sleeping at night like a champ. She would sleep 6 hours and then 4 hours, which was GREAT for me. :) However, the past week has been a different story and we have regressed to feedings every 2-3 hours at night. Ugh! I"m hoping this has more to do with a growth spurt than a pattern, but I guess time will tell.

Chris and I are doing pretty well, but staying really busy with the girls and the shop. Chris has a new kayak that he has been going out in a bit and he is loving it. I don't think I'm brave enough yet to try it, but maybe one day! :)

I will post updated pictures in a separate blog, so stay tuned!!!
