Memorial Day Weekend, etc.

Well we have had a semi-crazy, semi-relaxed past few weeks! Katherine is now walking almost full time and never sits still for very long. She is also into opening drawers and emptying the contents onto the floor...she's thinks it's hilarious...mommy doesn't agree! :) Memorial Day weekend was very low key, which was very nice! We pretty much played around the house, went on bike rides and just relaxed. Katherine definitely favored her daddy over mommy the entire weekend. In fact, Monday morning he got up to go on his usual long bike ride that he takes on the weekends and she had an absolute meltdown when he left the house! You'd think we were killing her and leaving her all alone! Colby and I were still sitting right beside her, but that didn't matter, she wanted Daddy!

She is also now aware that she can "pet" Colby. So she is constantly walking up to him and "patting" him on his head. Which of course causes Colby to lick her in the face...GROSS! She of course laughs her head off and Mom and Dad cringe. We are working with Colby to try and get him to QUIT licking her! No such luck thus far, but we're not giving up! It would help if she wouldn't taunt him, but of course try telling that to 15 month old!

Katherine spent Monday night and Tuesday with her Grandma and Grandaddy Corell so that one Mommy and Daddy could have a date night (whoo hoo!) and two so Mommy could get a lot of work done at the shop on Tuesday. Chris and I went to see the new Indiana Jones movie which we both enjoyed, but I must say...they could have avoided the whole ant scene and it would have been a-okay with me! YUCK!

Wednesday morning around 2am Katherine woke up with a fever of 102. So we immediately gave her a luke warm bath and Tylenol which reduced the fever. She was icky feeling all of Wednesday and Thursday morning, but then when she woke up from her morning nap on Thursday, her fever was gone! I guess she caught some sort of bug...not sure what though! She had zero symptoms other than being a little cranky, sleeping a lot and a high fever. But by last night she was back to her old rambunctious self. So I'm thinking that whatever it was has passed. Let's hope anyway! ;)

We've got a crazy week coming up as we head to Virginia for Gran and Grandad's (the Vail's) 65th Anniversary party next weekend! We are very excited to see everyone, although we are slightly dreading the flight since Katherine doesn't sit still for more than 2 seconds at a time! Chris's cousin will also be home from deployment, so it will be the first time we have seen him since before Katherine was born! Should be a great weekend!

Well I think that about wraps it up for now. I haven't taken many pictures lately (I know, I get an F!), but here is one where she is sort of showing her new skill of "the fake smile."

Enjoy!

Forward Facing Car Seat and Walking!

Well the past two days have brought about very exciting changes with Miss Katherine! Yesterday all of a sudden she just started walking right across the room without help. She's quite entertaining to watch as she holds her arms really tight and then walks really stiffly across the room. She has fallen a lot, but she just laughs when she falls and then gets right back up and keeps going. Nothing slows her down for long! :)

She also is now officially 20 pounds! So yesterday we turned her car seat around in the car. When we first put her in the car she screamed her head off. She wasn't sure what was going on, but then once I got in the front seat she thought it was hilarious. She now thinks she's queen on the hill sitting in her seat looking out the front window.

Have a great weekend!

Picnic, Mother's Day, etc.

It's been a while since I last posted on here. We have been pretty busy lately. We went to a picnic two weekends ago and Katherine had an absolute blast. She loved watching all of the other kids from church run around. There was also a greyhound dog there that I swear didn't more more than twice. It was the best behaved dog I have ever seen. We even shared a blanket with him while we ate and he didn't seem to care one bit that we had food right under his nose! Colby on the other hand would have devoured the entire plate before you could even sit down...guess we need to work on his manners! :)

Last week Cory (Chris's brother) came down for a visit. Katherine absolutely adores her Uncle Cory. They are so cute together. And of course this past weekend was Mother's Day. So we have been plenty busy around here!

Katherine is attempting her first steps, but she is extremely cautious. Guess she gets that from her Daddy. :) She will walk all over creation as long as she has something to hold onto, but the second you take your finger away, she starts crawling again. This morning she did manage to walk from the chair in our living room all the way to the middle of the room with no help. I was shocked! I was sitting in the floor playing with Colby and all of a sudden she was walking over to us. She didn't make it all the way before she fell onto her knees, but it was pretty good progress for her! I have a feeling that she will be walking...er...running shortly. :) She doesn't do anything halfway, so I have a feeling we will never see a walking stage, she'll just start sprinting around the play...heaven help us! ;o) I think that we made it to the 20 pound mark last night...I will weigh her again today to double check. This is a HUGE milestone as we can now turn her car seat around! Most babies are 20 pounds by the time they reach 1 year old, if not before...not Katherine! She's almost 15 months old! We definitely have a long, skinny kiddo! I think she gets that from Grandaddy Corell since he was an absolute twig all through school. ;o)

Christopher is staying busy with work and has won a lot of jobs recently. Our area has been plagued by fires this past week as some idiot intentionally set fires down in Palm Bay that destroyed over 100 homes. Not a good thing! So we have been staying indoors this week as the smoke has been horrendous! I think most of the fires are now contained, so I have a feeling that Katherine and her daddy will be out on the bike again this weekend. :)

Well I think that's about it for now. Here are a few pictures from the past few weeks.

Just up from a nap!
