Very Merry Christmas

Well the Hughes house was VERY merry this Christmas. We were very blessed by Santa and family members with lots of STUFF...now I need to find room for all of our new stuff. Ugh! :) Thursday (Christmas Eve), Christopher worked half day while Mommy and the girls cleaned and made Grandma's Cinnamon buns for Christmas morning breakfast. Cinnamon buns are a tradition from my Dad's Mom (Grandma Corell) and my mom and I make them every year from scratch to eat on Christmas morning. They are DELICIOUS! :) Anyway, once Chris got home, it was time for dinner and off to the 5pm Candlelight Service we went. Katherine and Caroline were dressed in their "Christmas Princess Dresses" as Katherine calls them and were super duper cute. We met my grandparents at church and Katherine immediately spotted the Beckwith Family and went to sit with them...Mom and Dad just aren't cool enough. :) Caroline was an angel and slept through the entire service...Katherine on the other hand didn't understand why she couldn't go up on stage with her "friends." So, Chris and Katherine made a hasty exit just before the sermon and were outside playing soccer...in her Christmas dress and white tights... Caroline and I quickly exited the service after it was over as I figured that Katherine was throwing a fit waiting on us...definitely not the case since she was playing soccer and having a blast! HA! We all piled into the car and headed home so we could hit the sack so Santa could pay us a visit. Katherine was definitely excited about Christmas, but I don't think she truly understood what was going to happen the next day...but she will next year!

Christmas morning Katherine slept in to the blessed hour of 7am! Amazing! Merry Christmas to Mom and Dad for sure! Mom and Dad got dressed while Katherine waited patiently to go downstairs and see what Santa had brought. After we were dressed, Chris read us the story of Jesus birth from the Bible and we explained to Katherine that is the reason we celebrate Christmas, then it was off to see what goodies were in store for us!

Santa definitely out did himself this year! Katherine got all kinds of baby accessories (stroller, pac n play, entertainment mat, etc.) and a brand new PINK bike (is there any other color?). She got a lot of other things from Mom and Dad, but her favorite from us was a toy medical kit...in pink of course! Needless to say Chris and I have needed lots of shots since the medical kit was opened...not sure why she's obsessed with shots, but she certainly is! :)

We then enjoyed our delicious cinnamon buns and then Caroline conked out for a nap. After she woke up and we had all showered, we headed over to Grammie and Gray Gray's for another Christmas celebration and lunch with GiGi (Frances) and Joe Joe (my Grandaddy) and Sandi. Katherine got a new PINK (of course) Mustang convertible that is motorized from them...just what she needed! She had been eyeing the huge box for weeks and was convinced it was a blue dinosaur...not quite! :) Unfortunately the Mustang needed to charge the batteries for 18 hours, so we didn't get to take a spin in it until the next day...and Lord help us, I think she's going to be a speed demon as her favorite thing to do is stomp the gas and peel out in our driveway...LOOKOUT! :)

The rest of the weekend was pretty low key as we cleaned up from the Christmas celebrations and prepared for our trek North to Virginia for Christmas with the Hughes and Vail clans.

We definitely had a wonderful Christmas!!
